One of five analytical projects to support the development of a Regional MCS Strategy for Pacific oceanic fisheries.
This project involved the development of a framework and policy for the collection, processing, storage and exchange of fisheries data in support of national, sub-regional and regional MCS initiatives undertaken by FFA Members. In coordination with two other supporting projects, this project defined current and likely future information needs and identified types of data required by MCS component. A review of the current information management capabilities in FFA member countries and associated regional agencies identified many weaknesses, but also a number of strengths that could be built upon.
